The Lufthansa Group has submitted a bid to Portugal's state-owned investment company, Parpública, seeking to acquire an initial minority stake in TAP Air Portugal as part of the airline's privatization process. The proposed investment aims to establish a long-term partnership designed to support TAP's future while maintaining its role as Portugal's national carrier. Lufthansa has operated in Portugal for more than 70 years and currently offers 353 weekly flights to and from the country. If approved, the partnership could strengthen Lisbon's position as a major transatlantic hub, expanding air connectivity between Europe, Latin America, Africa, and North America while supporting TAP's long-term development.
