The Nigerian Government has congratulated Carlos Vila Nova on his re-election as President of the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe, describing the outcome as a reflection of the country’s commitment to democratic governance and the rule of law. “The people of São Tomé and Príncipe have once again demonstrated their commitment to democratic values and the rule of law by participating in a peaceful electoral process,” the statement reads. Nigeria reaffirmed its solidarity with the Government and people of São Tomé and Príncipe and pledged to continue strengthening the longstanding ties of friendship, cooperation and mutual respect between both countries. While wishing President Vila Nova a successful second term in office, the Nigerian Government also expressed its best wishes to the people of São Tomé and Príncipe. “The Government of Nigeria wishes His Excellency President Carlos Vila Nova a successful second term in office and extends its best wishes for the continued progress, stability, and prosperity of the people of São Tomé and Príncipe,” statement read.
