Welcoming the Minister's response, Sinn Féin councillor Sheamus Greene said it would be "disappointing for all the false news advocates" that Enniskillen was getting its bypass. Seconding the correspondence, SDLP councillor Adam Gannon said he welcomed the letter but took a different view. "How many years have we been told that the Executive was committed to the bypass?" Responding, Sinn Féin Councillor Tommy Maguire said it was "noticeable" that when a minister from the SDLP held the infrastructure portfolio, Councillor Gannon "was not so adamant or so wise." He accused Councillor Gannon and his party of engaging in "cheap politics" over the previous withdrawal of funding.
