Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was demoted by King Charles III last year because of his connection to the late paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein. The former Duke of York now looks set to lose the Freedom of the City of London. The City of London Corporation, which governs the Square Mile, said it is working on a process that could result in the removal of the privilege he was awarded in 2021. It passed a motion expressing "profound disappointment" that he had not relinquished the freedom of his own accord. The Freedom of the City of London is believed to have begun in 1237 and was historically granted to allow individuals to carry out their trade within the city walls.
