Mr and Mrs Buckenham had applied to East Suffolk Council for permission to build a two-storey extension and porch at their property in the village of Ringsfield, near Beccles.
The plans would have enlarged the living room, added a new porch, and created an additional bedroom with an en-suite.
Officers, in their report, said: "The proposed porch is modest in scale, simple in design, and appropriately positioned relative to the dwelling.
Plans proposed a new porch, an extended living room, and new bedroom (Image: Gordon Hogg)"As such, this element of the proposal is supported.
"The proposed side extension would add significant width to the property, creating a disproportionately large addition that would not appear subordinate to the existing house.
