The business reported revenue growth of 5.5% during the 13 weeks to 27 June, driven by an 8.2% rise in sales volumes.
Fresh pork also performed well, with retail volumes in the domestic market recording double-digit growth compared with a year earlier.
Chief executive Adam Couch said: "We have made a positive start to the year, delivering volume-led revenue growth across the business."
A significant proportion of that spending is being directed towards the expansion of its Eye poultry operation in Suffolk, where additional capacity is expected to support future demand.
The company said its integrated model, which links livestock production with food processing, continued to provide a competitive advantage.
