Appeal lodged over plan to turn former Greenock pub into convenience store

The applicant has asked Scottish ministers to overturn the council's refusal of planning permission for the former Broomhill Bar at 112 Drumfrochar Road.
Planning permission was refused by the board in May despite council officers recommending that the proposal be approved.
It states: "Planning officers determined that the proposal complied with the Development Plan and recommended approval.
"The appeal proposal is therefore consistent with the Development Plan when assessed as a whole."
The plans were also opposed by nearby shop owner Mohammad Mashwani, who said he feared a rival convenience store would damage his business.
