The local health unit has issued an advisory that people may have been exposed to chickenpox at the Brantford General Hospital last week.
Article contentThe exposure would have been from late July 21, just before midnight, to 2:48 p.m. on July 22 in the emergency department at the hospital, according to Grand Erie Public Health.
Anyone who was at the emergency department during that timeline should monitor for symptoms for 21 days, or until August 11 or 12.
Anyone in those categories is considered high-risk and should follow up with their doctor, health clinic or walk-in clinic as soon as possible.
The health unit advises people with potential symptoms to stay home and avoid contact with others, especially those at a higher risk of severe illness.
