Troops of the Nigerian Army's 65 Battalion have uncovered and dismantled a suspected illegal oil bunkering operation in the Orile area of Lagos State, leading to the arrest of six suspects during a well-coordinated intelligence-led raid. The operation, which was led by the Commanding Officer of the battalion, Lieutenant Colonel S. Adeojo, was carried out following credible intelligence on the activities of suspected oil thieves operating in the area. During the raid, the troops arrested six suspected bunkerers and recovered four trucks, a pumping machine, as well as several pipes and drums believed to have been used for the illegal siphoning and transportation of petroleum products. The arrested suspects, along with all recovered exhibits, have been handed over to the Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for further investigation and possible prosecution.
