Upon arrival, officers contacted the man, identified as Austin Porter, 28, of Eureka. Officers recognized Porter from prior contacts and knew he had multiple outstanding felony warrants for his arrest. Porter initially appeared to be asleep; however, when officers attempted to wake him, he fled on foot and physically resisted officers’ efforts to take him into custody. After a brief physical struggle, officers successfully arrested Porter for resisting arrest. Porter was subsequently booked on charges of resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of probation, and the outstanding felony warrants.
