The blaze broke out on Marine Parade West, on Lee-on-the-Solent seafront just before 5.20pm yesterday evening. A Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were called to a grass bank fire on the Lee-on-the-Solent seafront, which is believed to have been started deliberately. They added that the fire involved an area of grass measuring 20 metres by 20 metres before crews extinguished it with a hose reel jet. A spokesperson for Hampshire police confirmed they attended the scene, but said the incident was not transferred to them as arson. They said: "We were advised by Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service that police attendance was not needed."
