Neil Jones, 48, of Morningside Road, was jailed for two years and three months at Liverpool Crown Court on Tuesday for dangerous driving, assault by beating, common assault and threatening a person with an offensive weapon in a public place. He received a consecutive sentence of two years for causing death by careless driving for an unrelated incident at the same time. The video footage – released by Cheshire Police – shows him threatening to hit two men with a claw hammer after a road rage incident at the Coliseum Shopping Park, near Cheshire Oaks, in Ellesmere Port. Mobile phone footage captured by a witness showed Jones threatening two men with a claw hammer before reversing into a man, trapping him between two cars. It then shows officers from Cheshire Police’s roads unit arresting the Liverpool man who told them to ‘calm down’ and mocked surprise when he was told he was being arrested for violent disorder.
