Kurnool: A protection wall along Sudda Vagu near KC Canal in Kurnool city will be constructed at a cost of Rs.2.5 crore, said minister for industries, commerce and food processing T.G. The minister, along with municipal commissioner Challa Obulesu, laid the foundation stone for the construction of the protection wall in Wards 23 and 24 limits near the KC Canal. Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that residents of Sriram Nagar and Lakshmi Nagar areas have been facing recurring flooding due to heavy water flow in Sudda Vagu whenever it rains in the city. As part of the commitment, the water resources department has taken up the construction of a 250-metre-long protection wall with an estimated cost of Rs.2.50 crore, he said. The minister also expressed gratitude to district incharge and water resources minister Nimmala Ramanaidu for his support in sanctioning the funds for the project.
