Community MessageThe City of Fort Collins will offer 1,000 locally grown trees for $25 each to residents living within the city’s Growth Management Area (GMA). “Planting trees is a great way to get residents involved in building a healthier, resilient urban forest in Fort Collins,” said Christine Holtz, senior forestry specialist. Formerly known as the Community Canopy Program, the Rooted in Community Tree Sale is supported by the City’s Nature in the City program and Forestry Division. The initiative aims to increase Fort Collins’ tree canopy, providing benefits that include improved air quality, stormwater management, carbon capture, wildlife habitat, lower energy demand through increased shade, and healthier neighborhoods.
