Expanding access to electric vehicles and reliable charging infrastructure helps provide consumers with alternatives that are less vulnerable to international energy disruptions. Level 3 DC fast chargers can provide significantly faster charging than standard public chargers, helping reduce charging times for drivers traveling throughout the region. The grants are part of the Illinois Department of Transportation’s ongoing efforts to expand the state’s electric vehicle charging network and support the transition to cleaner transportation options.
