Joliet Junior College received a $281,000 Advanced Manufacturing Grant to expand its MakerLab and launch new additive manufacturing training programs. The funding, provided by the Illinois Community College Board, will help the college address a rapidly growing sector of advanced manufacturing that relies on industrial 3D-printing technologies. This expansion allows JJC to offer an additive manufacturing technician certification recognized by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. “Advanced manufacturing is transforming the way products are designed and made,” said Dave Lantz, JJC center for continuing education director. The investment builds on 10 years of innovation at the JJC MakerLab.
