The beautifully restored confines of the Columbus Citizens Foundation were the setting for Understanding Italy Through Wine, a private wine experience for a select group of wine journalists and sommeliers sponsored by the Istituto 100% Italiano and Coldiretti, the leading organization representing Italian agricultural entrepreneurs. His Falcale, a wine named for the falcons that fly freely around the property, is a Cannonau di Sardegna, Sardinia’s most important red wine. Known in wine circles as one of the ‘Kings of Italian Wine’, this was a wine that took no prisoners. Giorgio Polegato with La Viarte wine presented a noble wine made from Friulano of the Friuli Venezia Giulia. Friulano is the prince of the native grapes of the Friuli Venezia Giulia.
