The Madhya Pradesh government has increased the procurement limit for moong (green gram) from 25 per cent to 60 per cent for eligible farmers after days of large-scale protests in Bhopal, prompting farmer organisations to call off their agitation.
Alongside the revised procurement cap, the state extended the procurement deadline to August 20 and suspended the e-token system until a review is completed.
Addressing concerns over fertiliser distribution, Kansana said a committee would examine complaints regarding the e-token system and recommend improvements.
After days of prøtests over limited moong procurement, the Madhya Pradesh government has raised procurement from 25% to 60% of each registered farmer's produce at MSP.
Do you think increasing procurement to 60 per cent is a fair compromise, or should governments work towards guaranteeing procurement of the entire crop under MSP?
