The Floyd County Commission approved several investments in public safety, county infrastructure, recreational opportunities, and essential government services during its meeting this week. Commissioners approved the acceptance of a $150,000 High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas grant for the Floyd County Police Department. The Board also approved converting lighting at police department headquarters to energy-efficient LED fixtures. Additional public safety action included approval of required property documentation for future closeout of the Public Safety and Community Violence Reduction Act grant. The Water Department will purchase a Ford F-150 from Hardy Family Ford for $35,245, using capital savings and insurance reimbursement funds.
