Unlicensed Electrical Job Left Elderly Victim Without Working HVAC, Rome Man Arrested
['Staff Reports']
Coosa Valley News
Ryelin Christopher McGuire, 21 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he charged an elderly woman $2,500 to perform electrical service on a home he was not licensed to perform, and without a permit.
Police said that the work performed caused the HVAC system in the home to be damaged to the point it no longer worked.
It was also reportedly not up to code.
Authorities went on to say that the work done presented a safety hazard to the victim due to a potential shock and fire hazards thanks to overloaded circuits.
McGuire is charged with felony theft by deception, reckless conduct and exploitation/intimidation of the elderly.
