A preliminary hearing was held last Thursday for the capital murder charges in the deaths of University student Jazmine Alexis Bates, 22, and Jose “Felix” Alvarez-Duenas, 31.
De’Kendrick Crawford, 24, was charged with the murder of Bates and Alvarez-Duenas earlier this month.
Alvarez-Duenas was housesitting and dogsitting for the owner of a home in Brookwood when both he and Bates were shot and killed.
Bates and Alvarez-Duenas were both employees of Buffalo Phil’s, and Bates had previously worked at Avenue Pub.
In an Instagram post following the murders, Buffalo Phil’s issued a statement remembering Bates and Alvarez-Duenas and their “kindness, dedication, and joy.”
