Joan, of course, is Joan Benoit Samuelson, winner of the first women’s marathon Olympic gold medal in 1984, two-time winner of the Boston Marathon, and a Maine native. Her gift to us, the TD Beach to Beacon 10K, is Maine’s own, too. Saturday is the 28th running of the Beach to Beacon 10K, the race she founded in 1998. The Beach to Beacon 10K is nearly 30 years old.
