Three men stole all the marijuana from a growing operation early Wednesday morning in Belgrade after tying a couple’s hands and holding them at gunpoint.
Deputies from the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Bartlett Road following the incident just before 7 a.m., Chief Deputy J. Chris Read said in a news release.
The men who broke into the residence stole cash in addition to marijuana, and spent over three hours there with the couple tied up, Read said.
The growing operation was legal, licensed through the state of Maine, Read said, and the Office of Marijuana Policy has been notified of the robbery.
Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office are investigating leads and evidence collected at the scene.
