When it comes to video calls in a professional context, the likes of Google Meet, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams still dominate, but this week, WhatsApp has announced a handful of important new features for its video call capabilities. All of these features are key quality of life improvements, as WhatsApp looks to be a platform that is used more by businesses. Unpacking the new features in a blog post, WhatsApp explained that you can now make and receive audio and video calls, both for one-on-one calls and group calls, directly in your browser from WhatsApp Web. Shifting to Waiting Room, and as the name suggests, it is a virtual room where users can wait before connecting to a call. “When you create a WhatsApp call link with ‘Require approval to join’ enabled, participants will enter a waiting room until you’re ready to let them in,” shared WhatsApp.
