LUTH healthcare services crippled as resident doctors’ strike enters 8th day

Spread the wordHealthcare services at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), was disrupted Monday as the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) continued its industrial action for eight days.
The association warned that the strike would continue unless urgent steps are taken to address critical welfare concerns.
The strike, embarked upon in line with a directive from the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), followed months of unsuccessful negotiations between the doctors and the LUTH management over unresolved welfare issues.
They are: The immediate completion of the Resident Doctors’ Quarters and the restoration of call duty meals.
The ARD also decried the withdrawal of call duty meals, describing the decision as detrimental to patient care and the welfare of doctors.
