A giant moving tree, a towering traditional Ukrainian doll, and a mobile mini-model of the town brought the streets of Ramsgate alive on Sunday (July 26) as the historic Ramsgate Carnival returned for its 2026 procession. Leading this year’s parade was the mesmerising Tree Más, crafted by Great British Carnival. This sprawling, animated artwork and its accompanying “tree sprites” sparked an impromptu conga line between performers and the crowd. A giant Motanka puppet was created from scratch by members of Thanet’s Ukrainian community, who were participating in the parade for their fourth consecutive year. A spokesman for the Ukrainian Community in Thanet said: “Seeing so many smiles, hearing kind words, and answering questions about Ukrainian culture made all the hard work worthwhile.
