One of the biggest debates among our state's parents, teachers, and students just became official in Illinois.
Governor JB Pritzker has signed a statewide law requiring every public school district to adopt a cell phone policy that limits student access to personal devices during the school day.
Fewer distractions, more face-to-face interaction, improved attention in class, and less cyberbullying during the school day.
Many Illinois school districts already have similar policies in place and report positive results.
The one thing that's certain is that beginning with the 2027-2028 school year, Illinois classrooms are going to look a lot less like a sea of glowing screens, and that could change the school day for students, teachers, and parents alike.
