Few stories, however, grip the collective imagination more profoundly than the tragic tale of the Donkey Lady, La Callada. Author Carmen Tafolla, illustrator Thelma Ortiz-Muraida and publisher Juan Tejeda will come together this Saturday for a reading and discussion about the new young adult novel The Donkey Lady: A Graphic Parable. Released by Aztlan Libre Press, The Donkey Lady: A Graphic Parable reclaims the tale of a woman subjected to violence by also highlighting kindness, harmony with nature and acceptance of differences, according to Tafolla.
