B&M has submitted a planning application to Rochford Council for permission to install signage at the site on Eastwood Road in Rayleigh. The unit has been empty since the end of May after Poundland closed due to being unable to secure new lease terms. The nearest B&M location for Rayleigh shoppers is currently at Airport Retail Park in Rochford. A spokesman for Poundland said at the time of the Rayleigh closure: "I’m afraid the lease on our Rayleigh store at 12-24 Eastwood Road is expiring which is why we’ve begun a clearance sale ahead of the store’s closing on 21 May.
