UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed his intention to convene an expanded meeting on the Cyprus issue, provided the necessary preparations are made.
He stressed that in this direction, he asked the two leaders, Christodoulides and Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhurman, to intensify their efforts, in cooperation with his envoy, Maria Angela Holguin.
The goal, he added, is to hold an expanded meeting that will be successful.
Guterres noted that no deadline has been set for the date of the expanded meeting.
Turkey believes that there is still no common ground between the two sides for a solution to the Cyprus problem.
