Following a court claim, the man, who wishes to remain anonymous, was awarded £25,000, and Lidl has now paid the money to the shopper. The man had been in the store to buy three bags of shallots as part of Lidl’s '5p veg for Christmas offer'. He said a week later Lidl Customer Care emailed him an apology. Lidl said the judgement had been made 'in default' as they had not been able to submit a defence.
