A formal Market Conduct Examination of State Farm’s wildfire claims handling found a pattern of unlawful behavior in more than half the claims reviewed.
Nearly half of all wildfire consumer complaints filed with California regulators involved smoke damage.
The DOI examiners found a consistent pattern: State Farm denied required environmental testing without providing the written notices California law mandates.
