Social media reaction has been overwhelmingly favourable to a commemorative crosswalk applied in downtown Mitchell on July 27 that recognizes this year’s 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Legion. Article contentKevin Culligan, the Mitchell branch of the legion’s second vice-president, appeared before West Perth council on June 15 to pitch the idea, which was unanimously approved that evening. “I think this is a great idea. “We think it’s a great idea and it’s right at the cenotaph.” Plans are underway to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Mitchell branch of the legion in 2028.
