Fourteen months after applying for a federal grant to help raise funds for a new vehicle for West Perth Transit, the municipality received word of its approval. “This is a good news story,” West Perth CAO Dan Hobson said at council’s July 13 meeting while giving credit to executive co-ordinator Avery Hulley. In June 2024, West Perth Village requested assistance from municipal staff to procure a replacement accessible bus, Hobson explained in his report. Hobson said the municipality submitted an application on behalf of West Perth Village for a rural transit solutions fund federal grant in March 2025, specifically to support transit service in West Perth. The replacement vehicle will improve service reliability, reduce maintenance-related downtime, and support the continued delivery of accessible transportation services throughout West Perth.
