Longtime Mayor Walter McKenzie will not seek re-election, and two candidates have expressed interest in replacing him in the top job as the third-ever mayor of the municipality — current Deputy Mayor W. Dean Trentowsky and former deputy mayor and McKenzie’s challenger in the last election, Doug Eidt. Nicholas Vink has filed his nomination papers for deputy mayor, the lone contestant thus far. In the ward of Mitchell, where there are three seats available, only incumbent Phillip O’Donnell has filed his papers to seek re-election.
