The nationwide premiere of Last Man Standing at the Whānau Mārama New Zealand International Film Festival (NZIFF) shines a timely spotlight on the political legacy of Jim Anderton, a legacy the resurgent Alliance Party of 2026 says provides an urgent blueprint for New Zealand politics today.
“Jim famously noted that he didn’t leave the Labour Party, the Labour Party Caucus left him.
Thousands of Labour Party members decamped with Jim for the New Labour Party and then the Alliance, forsaking the treachery of Labour ministers,” says Mr Robson.
