Home News Ryan Kwon July 29th, 2026 - 5:35 PMFantasy author Brandon Sanderson has officially completed the first draft of the screenplay for the upcoming feature film adaptation of his bestselling novel Mistborn: The Final Empire. The completion of the initial script draft coincides with the 20th anniversary of the novel’s original publication in July 2006. In addition to his creator-owned work, Sanderson completed the final three volumes of The Wheel of Time book series following the passing of original author Robert Jordan in 2007. For the upcoming Mistborn feature, Sanderson serves as the primary screenwriter while maintaining executive involvement in the adaptation process. Apple TV+ will review the completed script draft prior to initiating subsequent polish passes and production scheduling.
