According to Variety , Ellison sent a memo to staff after the companies agreed to delay closing the deal while a lawsuit brought by a group of state attorneys general moves through the legal system. He told employees he remains “highly confident” the transaction will ultimately be completed and said Paramount will continue to make its case in court. The merger was originally expected to close sooner, but Variety reports that Paramount and Warner Bros. For now, the future of one of the entertainment industry’s biggest proposed mergers remains in the hands of the courts
