Long gone are the closed-door days of the NY Islanders under Lou Lamoriello. Since Mathieu Darche took over as the General Manager and Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations, the organization has been much more open-minded for the world to see. Today, the NY Islanders were the recipient of the Dick Dillman Memorial Award for PR Excellence, along with teh Colorado Avalanche and the Dallas Stars. But under Darche, the fans get to see a side of the organization they'd never seen before, including the On The Island docu-series. "The true credit belongs to the dedication and partnership shown by our players and coaching staff on a daily basis," Senior Vice President of Communications Kimber Auerbach said.
