Hostilities between Iran and the United States continued to escalate Thursday after Iranian state media reported attacks targeting a U.S. military base in Bahrain. The reported attack comes one day after U.S. forces carried out strikes against military targets in Iran for what it called a "surprise attack." The military said the operation was intended to further reduce threats to American forces, commercial shipping and U.S. allies in the region. President Donald Trump previewed Wednesday strikes while speaking with reporters at the White House. More than 50,000 U.S. troops are stationed across the Middle East, according to CENTCOM, where U.S. forces have been involved in operations since the United States joined Israel in launching strikes against Iran on Feb. 28.
