East Lothian Council is filling in scores of rabbit burrows at Coo's Green, North Berwick - but leaving the larger, active ones alone.
To assess whether a burrow is active, council staff place loose vegetation at the entrance overnight to see if it had been disturbed.

The focus has remained on filling in some of the worst-affected areas, including smaller holes and surface “dimples” while leaving larger, active burrows undisturbed.
An East Lothian Council spokesperson added: “This work has been carried out by our team over recent weeks and will continue at present.
