Top Police officer says violence against women and girls is a 'growing threat'

The Chief Constable said: “Violence against women and girls is a societal issue and, as such, one that requires more than just a policing approach.
“Our renewed work will focus on prevention activities with partners which ultimately reduce the risk to women and girls.
“Rape accounted for over 18% of all Group 2 sexual crimes and had increased by 169 (8.2%) over the previous year.
Cameron Ross, an ex-police officer, was sentenced to 10 years, convicted of violent and non-recent sexual offences against women in the Inverness and Western Isles areas while a serving officer.
Iain Robertson, 45, was sentenced to nine years on July 23 at the High Court in Glasgow for a series of sexual and violent offences including rape and assault, between 2004 and 2019,in Glasgow.
