THE STATE’S AFFORDABLE housing agency is planning to increase the number of homes it builds outside of Dublin – but the attention will still be mostly on the capital between now and 2030. The Land Development Agency (LDA) has said it is on track to build some 13,272 new homes between now and 2030, with around 1,800 set to be finished this year. Established in 2021, the agency’s main role is to acquire and develop state and other land to deliver affordable homes. Seeking more fundingAt the end of last month, the housing agency had some €2.9 billion in assets. Currently, the affordable housing share is 80% in towns including Dublin and Cork with a population above 150,000, and 50% elsewhere.
