Zakynthos Shipwreck May Introduce Entrance Fee

Μake us preferred on GoogleA new reality may be taking shape at Zakynthos’ iconic Shipwreck Beach, one of Greece’s most photographed and internationally renowned tourist destinations, as the municipal authorities leave open the possibility of introducing an entrance fee.
The issue was raised publicly by Zakynthos Mayor Giorgos Stasinopoulos during a municipal council meeting, where officials discussed developments concerning the operation, safety and future management of the Shipwreck area.
Against this backdrop, the mayor did not rule out introducing an entrance fee, noting that the possibility had been discussed in the past but met with opposition.
A Symbolic Fee Under ConsiderationMunicipality of Zakynthos officials told TA NEA that once the process is completed and the Shipwreck area comes fully under municipal control, a symbolic entrance fee is expected to be introduced.
The mayor has also highlighted the significant costs visitors already incur to reach Shipwreck Beach.
