OTTER TAIL COUNTY — The Otter Tail County Commissioners opted not to go with the lowest bidder for recycling services on the new routes that will serve New York Mills, Ottertail and Parkers Prairie. District 1 Commissioner Dan Bucholz said he supported keeping the business local and noted that Waste Management is headquartered out of state. As for Parkers Prairie, which received four bids, the third highest was awarded the contract. And, Alex Rubbish came in almost $6,000 more than Waste Management, but the Alexandria-based Alex Rubbish was awarded the contract. District 2 Commissioner Wayne Johnson added Alex Rubbish was already in the community of Parkers Prairie providing refuse removal services.
