Scott Sandelin named assistant coach for U.S. Collegiate SelectsUMD men’s hockey head coach Scott Sandelin is set to join the U.S. Collegiate Selects coaching staff for the 2026 Spengler Cup in Switzerland. Sandelin will serve as an assistant coach alongside Cornell University head coach Casey Jones, with University of New Hampshire head coach Mike Souza leading the team. Sandelin, entering his 27th season with the Bulldogs, and competed in the Spengler Cup in 1982 as a member of the North Dakota hockey team. The U.S. Collegiate Selects will open the 2026 Spengler Cup against Frölunda HC of Sweden on Saturday, Dec. 26, before facing host HC Davos on Dec. 27 or Dec. 28. The roster of 25 student-athletes from all six NCAA Division I conferences will be announced in the coming months.
