Book Online and Guest Reservations are “scams” that masquerade as official websites for hotels, Chiu’s complaint said. Hotel booking websites have been overcharging tourists to stay in San Francisco rooms, according to a lawsuit filed Wednesday by City Attorney David Chiu. According to the lawsuit, Book Online and Guest Reservations use sponsored Google ads and nondescript websites to pose as hotels. That URL leads to the Guest Reservations booking site. The Book Online and Guest Reservations websites denote in small script that they are run by independent companies.
