Fraudsters are constantly adapting their methods to gain the trust of victims and obtain personal information, banking details, or money. Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is reminding residents to remain vigilant as fraudsters continue to use a variety of tactics to target members of the public. “Police have recently received reports of various scams, including suspected artificial intelligence (AI)-generated phone calls, fraudulent investment opportunities, online marketplace scams, phone upgrade scams, and fake prize notifications,” OPP said in a release on Tuesday.
