Rwanda sign AU convention on ending violence against women and girls

In Addis Ababa, Minister of Foreign Affairs Olivier Nduhungirehe signed the AU convention on ending violence against women and girls (AU-CEVAWG) making Rwanda the 9th signatory country.
The convention provides a comprehensive continental legal framework to prevent and respond to all forms of violence against women and girls.
Rwanda supports the convention as it aligns with Rwanda’s vision and National gender policy.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Olivier Nduhungirehe is attending the 49th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union, , bringing together Ministers of Foreign Affairs from AU Member States to deliberate on key continental priorities and prepare decisions for consideration by the Assembly of Heads of State and Government under the theme: “Assuring Sustainable Water Availability and Safe Sanitation Systems to Achieve Agenda 2063.”
The two-day Session runs from 28–29 July 2026 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
