Jewish medical leaders say reports of antisemitism in public and private healthcare settings have risen sharply since the Hamas-led attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.
Healthcare workers must consider how material posted on their personal social media accounts could affect patients’ trust, an organisation representing Jewish medical practitioners has warned.
“There were a lot of increasingly distressed Jewish medical practitioners, and they started contacting us.”
The inquiry has also heard that some Jewish patients asked for their religion to be removed from hospital admission records following allegations involving two former Bankstown Hospital nurses.
Dr Gordon called for a nationwide prohibition on healthcare workers wearing political symbols while treating patients, arguing healthcare should be a “sacred space”.
